Crews responded to a call of a reported fire in the 4000 block of Garrison Boulevard just before 9 a.m. on Monday, the Baltimore City Fire Department said.

Upon arrival, firefighters noticed smoke coming from a two-story occupied home. As crews made their way into the home, they found an 85-year-old woman unconscious near a window on the second floor, the department said.

The woman was immediately pulled out of the home and was later taken to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead hours after being taken to the hospital, the department said. Her identity has yet to be released.

In addition, one firefighter was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire was ruled as accidental as it result from an overheated power strip, the department said. The State Medical Examiner's Office will determine an official cause of death.
